The AAO practices once a week on a Tuesday from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

As is custom in Accordion Orchestras around the world, AAO members play right hand only. The 4th Accordion and the Base accordion are amplified and take over the function of the left hand side.

The pre requisites for joining are ability to read sheet music,  willingness to come to weekly practices and practise the repertoire at home.

Our music comes in up to 4 parts and you will be allocated a part by the Musical Director based on your abilities.

Currently all members play acoustic piano accordions, however we would also welcome chromatic accordion players.

Owning an accordion is not necessary when you join. The Orchestra owns a few accoustic piano accordions. We can provide you with one of those accordions for a period of 6 months up to a maximum of one year until you acquire your own accordion.

A music stand, sheet music and folder will be provided. The majority of members prefer to download their music onto their iPad or tablet, but others prefer to have their sheet music in hard copy in a folder.

For each new piece of music a PDF will be emailed to you which you print off or download onto your iPad or Tablet. MP3 recordings of the music will also be provided to assist with practice.

If you play drums or percussion we would love to hear from you as well.

Interested? Please ring David on 0419 804946 for a chat and organise a date to come along to one of our next practices.
